Blended Skills

"Blended Skills" is a piece of intermediate to advanced difficulty for young alto saxophonists. A variety of skills, especially in different musical styles, is required in "Blended Skills". The first part is fast, rhythmic and sometimes has bar changes that have to be mastered. This is followed by a very slow, cadenza-like part with long notes and many fermata. This part virtually opens the next part, which resembles a blues style. The waltz that follows is still in ternary rhythm like the blues before it, but a different pulse feeling and playing style is called for. Finally, the first fast part is repeated.
